Description:

This study aims to explore the phenomenon of urban communal living. Drawing on 5 years of ethnographic data collection, I apply sub-cultural studies literature to show how one communal household in central California operates as an urban tribe. The tribe is an oppositional sub-culture that, through day-to-day practice, constitutes a submerged network of people intentionally contesting cultural codes.
